1973

SEPT 26: Ralph Earnhardt dies of a heart attack at the age of 45.

1975

MAY 26: Makes his Winston Cup debut in the World 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Started 33rd and finished 22nd.

1979
Won the ROOKIE OF THE YEAR title with Rod Osterlund.

APRIL 1: Won his first Winston Cup race at Bristol Motor Speedway(#1)> JULY 30: Fractured his collarbones at Pocono Raceway.

1980
Won FIRST Championship Title.

1997

FEB 16: Car flips in final laps of Daytona 500 after contact with Gordon, Dale jumps out of the ambulance and finishes the race.
AUGUST 31: Blacks out during a race at Darlington; ends season winless for first time since 1981.

1998
First season as a car owner with Steve Park.

FEB 15: Won Daytona 500, in 20th attempt! Finally!(#71).

1999

APRIL 25: Won Talladega.(#72).
MAY 30: Dale Jr's Winston Cup debut.
AUGUST 28: Won Bristol(#73), infamous bump on Terry Labonte.
OCT 17: Won Talladega (#74), season clean sweep

2000
Dale Jr joins DEI full time.

MARCH 12: Won Atlanta(#75).
APRIL 2: Dale Jr won Texas, 1st win.
AUGUST 13: Steve Park won Watkins Glen, 1st win.
OCT 15: Won Talladega(#76), in charge from 19th place to 1st in last 5 laps.
Finishes 2nd to Bobby Labonte in points.

Feb 18:Died in a crash on last lap of Daytona 500, while Michael Waltrip & Dale Jr finish 1st and 2nd in cars he owns.

There will never be another Dale Earnhardt to inspire and spur on the sport.
And Dale's fans will never forget him.
